Visiting friends out-of-town, didn't know they had other guests too?

A couple-friend had been asking, insisting, we visit %26amp; stay with them(6 hours flight). Finally, we booked tix, all were happy it is finally happening, and we talked about it a fair bit before we flew over.

AFter reaching we realized there is another couple we don't know expected to be there too. We were rather surprised that we didn't know, as we were visiting our friends in particular to spend time with them. Not just using their place to stay while we are in their city.

Soon, it became obvious we were the fifth wheel.

We told them(nicely) we'd spend 1.5 day with them, then head over to nearby seaside town for 1.5 days, and be back for half-a-day to meet their other friends before leaving.

Q.1: I'd have like to known other guests are also coming. Yes, host don't _HAVE_ to tell ahead, but it'd have been nice. Am I right, my sister thinks I'm expecting too much.

Q.2: Now, our friends won't talk to us. I think we did pretty well, were not rude, spent enuf time. were we wrong?

i think your friends were rude in not telling you that they had invited another couple...

what was their reasoning behind NOT telling you?

wouldn't THEY want to know?

i don't know why your friends won't talk to you...i don't think that i would really care if they did or didn't...they seem to want to 'veil' things (they proved this by not saying there would be another couple there as well)

i think you spent MORE than enough time with them

you are correct
